birchbox – july
my treat to myself upon moving to DC was to sign up for Birchbox – a monthly subscription service for people with a beauty product addiction. each month, you get a box of high-quality samples of beauty products – plus a random little extra treat. i received my first one yesterday, and dudes, this is the best thing ever. i didn’t get a photo of the package it arrived it, but it was hot pink, and upon opening that, i found this:
opening that box, i found a few postcards with information on them – about birchbox, about this month’s products, and about how to purchase the full-size versions of the products on the birchbox website.
the back of this card has information on the products in the box – and the full-size prices.
let’s take a quick peek at the things i got. i’ve only used one so far, but as i use others, i’ll let y’all know my thoughts.
i’m not sure if i get to give feedback on this – i set my profile up with certain interests (sun protection, sensitive skin, mascara obsession), and my skin type/hair type – but not all of the items in the box are ones i necessarily want to use. i get the theme of the box completely, but it’s good that these are sample sizes, because if i’d received a full-size bottle of self-tanner, i’d be lost – i never use it. the idea behind the box is that i’ll try everything out and can buy the ones i love in full size on the birch box website, and earn points towards getting money off of purchases made there. there’s no obligation to buy things, though.
that being said…if you’re interested in joining Birchbox, go here and sign up – yes, i’ll earn points because you signed up, but then you get to pass it along to your friends and earn points from them and then we’ll all be able to discuss our new obsession.
*birchbox didn’t pay me in any way, shape, or form for this post. i just wanted to squee about my new toy online*
